The costumes for El Mito: Or The Myth of My Pain (World Premiere) explores three worlds; the real world of the Villegas family, the telenovela they create, and a mythic world of Columbian folklore characters. As Michelle breaks through the boundaries between worlds, the edges blur, and we are left to wonder what is reality and what is myth.

Research
The research for El Mito was quite unique, ranging from modern fashion, to telenovelas, to depictions of Colombian Folklore Characters. The mythic characters posed a specific challenge because there are relatively few media depictions of them, so research ended up including less traditional sources like Online Art mixed in with traditional statues and puppets.
