In Bright Star, we follow Alice Murphy, and her story of love, loss, and redemption, as it jumps between the 1920’s and 1940’s in different parts of North Carolina. The costumes show these worlds fairly realistically, to highlight the real worlds that inspired this story, with a hint of musical beauty to show the nostalgia and mistiness that comes with memory.
I also acted as the dramaturg for this production: more on that here

Research
The research for Bright Star was mostly historical. I focused on historic photographs from the time, especially from North Carolina. Additionally, I researched Bluegrass bands from the 1920s through the 1940s to costume the band, as they were featured on stage.
